Course Description

PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR 6, 7, & 8TH GRADES

ACTIVITY UNITS

Floor Hockey, Lacrosse, Basketball, Skating, C-Motion, Volleyball, Flag Football
and Golf.

CLASS REQUIREMENTS

1. Students must report to class on time( no later than 5 minutes past the scheduled
start time for class.

2. Students must be dressed appropriately for activity; gray t-shirt and athletic shoes
are required. Shorts, sweatshirt, and/or sweat pants are recommended depending
on the weather.

3. Non-participation from regular PE must be accompanied by a note from a parent
(for 1-5 days) or a doctor( if greater than 5 days). The note must be printed, signed,
dated, and state the reason and duration of the non-participation. Students excused
with a doctor's note must bring a doctor's note to clear them for regular activities
once they have recovered.


Those students who have a long term injury that prevents them from participating in regular PE classes must have a note from the physician treating the condition. This information must be updated at the end of each month. Students will then have an adapted PE program designed for them. They will take part in this while the rest of the class is engaged in the regular activity.

* Please be aware that frequent absence from physical education will affect a students fitness and ability to participate in the current class activity.

1. Consistent, regular participation
2. Giving your best effort all the time
3. Good behavior and sportsmanship
4. Level of improvement in the activity (including fitness)
5. Being on time to class
6. Dressing appropriately for PE


GRADING BREAKDOWN

1. Effort and Participation 50%
2. Fitness Training and Dressing Out 20%
3. Behavior and Attitude 30%



OTHER INFORMATION

Shoes for PE class: All Shoes for PE should have the following:
1. Significant padding under the heel area of the shoe.
2. They should flex easily under the ball of the foot.
3. They should have a firm heel cup to hold the foot in position.
4. They should be padded inside for comfort and vented for evaporation.
5. The laces/ velcro should be firmly secured so that shoes' support structures
can do their job.


Shirts for PE class:
The gray PE shirt should be cleaned at least once a week (be sure to remember to bring it back to school). The owners name should be printed in black block letters on the back of the shirt, across the shoulder blade area.
